A Career in the Transport Industry

With job opportunities becoming rarer, many people are considering training in fields other than the one that they are currently in. One industry which people overlook is the transport industry. In the UK, there are literally thousands of vans, trucks and lorries out on the road providing vital lifelines to companies and ensuring the regular supply of goods.

What people do not realise, is that the transport industry is suffering from a lack of skilled, qualified drivers. There are many transport jobs out there, and not enough drivers to take up all the positions. If you are considering retraining, then perhaps you should think about the transport industry.

The time was, when everyone was given a licence which included the ability to drive a 7.5 tonne vehicle. This changed some years ago, however, and now, the country is coming to the stage where there will not be enough 7.5 tonne drivers.

Lets not forget the class one and class two drivers either. These drivers are paid the most in the industry, and in terms of paying for a licence, is not super expensive. Again, these drivers are in a shortage.

So, if you are thinking of a career change, or are looking for work, perhaps you should consider a career in the transport industry. It can involve some time away from home, but not always, and you get to see different parts of the country, or even Europe as a whole.
